The difference between core-spun yarn and covered yarn is as follows: core yarn and outer covering material are different. Take spandex core-spun yarn and zhi spandex covered yarn as examples. Core-spun yarns generally use synthetic filaments with good strength and elasticity as core filaments, and cover short fibers such as cotton, wool, and viscose fibers. For example, spandex core-spun yarn is spandex wrapped with short fibers, with spandex filaments as the core and non-elastic staple fibers outsourcing, and the core filaments are generally not exposed when stretched.

The content of filament in the core-spun yarn is the main indicator of the core-spun yarn, and it has a great influence on the yarn performance and cost. Generally, filament content below 10% is referred to as low-proportion core-spun yarn; 10% to 40% is referred to as medium-proportion core-spun yarn; and more than 40% is referred to as high-proportion core-spun yarn. The content of elastic core-spun yarn is generally less than 10%, between 3% and 5%. The higher the ratio, the greater the cost. Pure polyester core-spun yarn for sewing, the proportion of core yarn reaches 50-60%. The content of core yarn for burnt-out fabric is 40-60%, and the content of rigid core-spun yarn is generally 20-40%.

For the core-spun yarn used in elastic fabrics, the fineness of the core yarn can be selected according to the purpose of the fabric. The core-spun yarn is generally polyester 7.78tex (70D) spandex yarn, and the draft ratio is about 3.5 times. For the medium (medium-low count) spandex core-spun yarn used for warp-directed strong corduroy and stretch work cloth, the stretch of spandex yarn should be larger, about 3.8-4.0 times. The knee area has better resilience.
