Due to the high specific strength and high specific modulus of polyethylene fibers. The specific strength is more than ten times that of the steel wire of the same section, and the specific modulus is second only to the special-grade carbon fiber. It requires that the gripper of the fiber strength tester can not only clamp the fiber sample without slipping during the tensile test but also not damage the fiber due to excessive clamping force. The electronic strength tester produced in the early days used a manual gripper, and the fiber sample was clamped by manually tightening the screw, and the gripping force was difficult to control. If it is too concentrated, the strength and elongation of the test results are low, which will bring unfavorable results to the correct evaluation of fiber quality. The pneumatic gripper operates automatically, the gripping force is constant and can be controlled by the adjustment of the air pressure, which reduces the influence of the operator on the test results, and the test results are accurate and stable, so it is widely used. Only the high-strength and high-modulus fiber tenacity tester with a pneumatic gripper can meet the test requirements of high-performance polyethylene fibers.
